Fall Servicing: How to Maintain Your Generator
Just like your car needs routine service and maintenance, so does your generator. If you rely on your generator for backup power, it is important to keep up with maintenance to ensure it is ready whenever you need it. Now that it is fall, it is the perfect time to make sure your generator is ready for winter.
Here are some of our tips when it comes to performing maintenance on your generator this fall!
1. Inspect the area and ensure it is clean: It is important to keep the surrounding area clean of any foliage and other debris.
2. Check the battery and cables: Make sure the battery inside your generator is not corroded and all cables and wiring throughout are properly connected.
3. Change the air filter: the air filter protects the engine from dirt and any damaging particles in the air. As a result, it is essential that you replace it regularly.
4. Change the oil: Draining out old oil and adding in new oil is an important part of ensuring your generator runs for years to come. Once the oil has been changed, your generator should be started to help circulate the oil throughout the system.
